A Real Jack-of-All Trades
” A jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one.”
This quote, attributed to William Shakespeare is one that I associate rather closely with. I love to learn and try new things. Combined with my excellent memory, I have also been compared to an encyclopedia by strangers and people close to me alike. Over the years I gained many skills, talents and interests. By the time you’re reading this, I’ll likely have more.
I enjoy history, storytelling, sports, entertaining, writing, nature, animals, cooking, baking, music and old technologies. The list continues all the time as I find and learn new things. I am passionate and excited about everything I do and I always like having something to do or someplace to be. I love making others smile and laugh but I want people to get something out of my work.
I have always wanted to create things that don’t just entertain people but help make a positive impact on others’ lives. In 2019, however, I began working in living history and realized that most of my passions and skills are a great fit for museum work. I left my television college diploma and have been pursuing museum studies. After college, I plan on combining the knowledge and skills from television, museum studies, and skills I’ve learned both at work and on my own time to encourage others to feel as passionate about learning history as I am.
P.S. As you go through the site, you’re going to see the name Dana Schaffner. That’s my legal name, I no longer use it but it’s on so many documents, websites, and achievements that are out of my power to change.
